I'm going to go off for a minute about the whole tumblr shutting down thing

I see a lot of people talking about how "no one wants to pay for tumblr premium and that's [part of] the reason tumblr is going under" and I'd like to address this specifically.

I remember when Tumblr announced they had badges, a shop, blaze, and premium people were really excited! Including me! We could pay to keep the lights on and maybe this meant we could get porn back! Tumblr generally wouldn't have to be beholden to "advertiser friendly" standards that not only affected nsfw creators but also a lot of just openly queer people on this site whose only crime was existing.

Then, Tumblr didn't keep their end of the bargain. The big visible issue at the time was transfems were being banned from the platform. Did you all forget Matt Mullenweg's harassment campaign against predestrogen? Remember how he FOLLOWED HER TO TWITTER and CONTINUED TO HARRASS HER after she left tumlbr?

Remember all the trans women talking about how they didn't feel safe on tumblr anymore? What about the sex workers who got banned for sharing sfw promos of their content? Or the artists who spoke up when Tumblr stole their work for their merch without asking?

We didn't choose not to give Tumblr money because "hehe tumblr anticapitalist". We chose not to give money to Tumblr and by extension Automatic because even when people were eagerly giving them money Tumblr and Automatic showed complete disregard for the same users they were asking to pay to keep this platform running. We made an informed decision to not give money to a platform that refused to put its users first.

Tl;dr: Tumblr's user base was perfectly happy to pay to keep the lights on until it became obvious Automatic and Tumblr didn't respect it's users enough to keep up their end of the bargain. The founder harassed predestrogen (who was a well known transfem user) off of the site, sexworkers being sfw were banned, and artist's work was stolen and used without their permission for merch. Automatic doesn't respect the users they asked for help.

Obligatory don't harrass staff regarding this, all of this is representative of a problem with Automatic, not the people who work for them and I imagine the meager team working on Tumblr is doing their best with the few tools they have.

It's a time-honoured tradition- every time Sam comes across Izzy (and Ed) in their travels, he asks Izzy to marry him. And every time, Izzy turns him down.

At this point, Sam is asking more for the sake of it than any belief Izzy will ever say yes, a remnant of childhood dedication touched with 30 years of heartbreak and regret- though even now, a small part of him still holds out hope. Sam's promises have only got more extravagant over the years, from a job as his first mate, to a captaincy, a fleet at his command, a whole fucking island if that's what Izzy wants- but he knows it isn't though, not really. If Izzy was ever going to agree to marry him, to leave his life and go with Sam, it wouldn't be for anything Sam could offer him. Izzy never did care for flashy shows of wealth, for a ship or to be captain. The only thing that ever mattered to him was loyalty given, and loyalty shown in return. 

It all comes to a head after Stede left and came back, after Izzy lost a toe, lost his leg. Sam hasn't seen him since before things with Ed started to really slide off the rails, before stress permanently set into the lines of Izzy’s face. So, when he sees a dishevelled man with a hoof for a leg in a no-name port, he doesn't even consider the idea that he might know him. It's only when he turns towards him, and Sam catches a glance at those oh too familiar tattoos, he realises this is Izzy, his Izzy, that stands before him.

Knowing Izzy's discomfort with pity, he doesn't treat him any differently than he would in years gone by, positioning himself in Izzy's line of sight before approaching and sweeping him up into a bone crushing hug. 

“Israel-goddamn-Hands!” he exclaims, as Izzy grumbles back a begrudging “Samuel-fucking-Bellamy”, a tradition almost as old as their friendship itself. Izzy might not hug him back, but he can’t keep the corner of his mouth from twitching, just for a second.

(If Sam holds Izzy a little tighter and a little longer than usual, well. That's his business)

By the time Sam lets go, most of the crew has appeared in the town square, drawn in by the commotion. They may have given Izzy his leg and welcomed him as one of them, but still there’s an underlying tension, with nobody quite ready to set aside everything that happened before the Kraken. Seeing him cosying up to an unknown man sets everyone on edge, unsure whether to come to their first mate’s aid, or to assume that they've been betrayed once again.

When Ed sees that the yelling was Sam, his hand goes tense where it's held in Stede's. He knows the routine, has seen it more times than he can count, but as he watches them part he realises that this is the first time in a long time he's unsure of what Izzy's response will be.

Knowing that something’s different, knowing that Izzy's feeling vulnerable already, Sam doesn't go for the same flashy proposal he’s been giving for years. He doesn't promise Izzy the world, he doesn't cause a scene (or, any more of a scene than he already has, anyway). He looks at the fractured man in front of him, takes his face in his hands, and says the exact same thing to him he said when they were little more than boys. “Israel, I have to ask you. I know what you'll say, but I have to try. Come with me. Marry me and sail away with me. I'll keep you safe”

And Izzy… hesitates. He glances over at Ed, at Stede, and says to Sam “...We’re staying in port for a week. Ask me again then”

That's the moment Sam knows there is something deeply, horribly, wrong. He's not just looking at an Izzy who got seriously injured in a fight and is struggling to cope, this is something so much bigger than that- and that Ed has something to do with it. Izzy wouldn't even be considering leaving if he didn't. Whether it was negligence or something more sinister, Sam doesn't yet know, but he intends to find out.

possibly controversial opinion but killing a character off for shock value, or to kickstart another character’s arc, really isn’t such a bad thing innately. characters are narrative tools. some tools exist primarily to support other tools. shock value and fridging can serve very valuable purposes if the story calls for them!

perhaps the characters are in a dangerous situation but they don’t realize it or aren’t taking it seriously enough- until their buddy is suddenly killed in front of them to prove how high the stakes are. perhaps there was no material loss painful enough that could’ve ever gotten someone to act, until they lost a person- a live irreplaceable human being- and now they’re blind with rage, etc.

this doesn’t even apply specifically to killing characters it can just be about uneven distribution of agency across the cast in general. that is to say while everyone should have at least some sort of personality or desires you don’t have to flesh everyone out if you don’t want. yeah that character exists to be the main character’s loving mom. that’s fine tbh. and you don’t have to give them what they want. destroy that person in the middle of their journey. their shattered dreams will haunt the main characters and add to the flavor of it all

like the issue is when this disproportionately happens to characters of a certain demographic. avoid doing that and you’re cool. but making your characters props for other characters is fine! write ya story 👍

Genuinely so curious who Mike thinks is gonna be buying The Cage or the new DCTL GN bc with the way he tweets as far as he's concerned, it's not gonna be:

The queer people he has actively admitted he will never show any representation of in the games.

3. The Bendy fandom which has always been concerned with topics of diversity esp in the sense of queer people since its creation. Who he has responded to really poorly esp in regards to the GN.

4. The fans who critique him. [He blocked me for doing so lol]

5. His fans in general who he tweets about like this currently. [He's being vague about why people were mad at him or sent him 'nasty messages' because if you actually looked into why you'd see he was in the wrong. Either way, a very hateful way to speak abt ur own fanbase.]

Reminder while Mike is trash talking his fans he has always treated them rather poorly. The fans who won the fanart contest for Chapter 5 never got their posters actually in game due to it being rushed. Not only was chapter 5 a big slap to the face story wise, but it was literally so rushed he couldn't be bothered to add in the art his fans gave him for his game FOR FREE. [Meatly blames this on a crazy timeline, reminder him and Mike are the literal ceos of this company. The proposal of future updates here is also pretty cruel considering Mike nowadays happily admits he corrupted Chapter 5's source code and therefore literally can't update it At All currently. Because he is a moron]

At least they got to be in Boris and the dark survival, and by that I mean that was the Only game they got to be in so far, isn't that just treating your fans like you love them? Shoving their hard work into a spin off game almost nobody has played or addresses much. [Hell, who knows if with the Lone Wolf rebrand they'll even stay there. In which case they'll be in None of the games, only in the credits of BATIM]

6. The Bendy fans who just generally disagree with him on stuff. Like the new ink demon design where there is literally a public poll showing people generally prefer the old one.

7. The Bendy fans who can see he is actively lying to them. To their fucking faces.

He says this has always been the case, but screenshots and links to tweets regarding the books being canon prove it was not. Does he really think bendy fans are stupid or something? [Unless he's admitting here he lied to Kress when he told her the books were canon which sounds worse!]

8. Anyone who doesn't like the idea of giving money to a guy who laid off tons of employees then afterwards thought it was a great idea to express his anti-union views! Also brag about how good of an employer he was, according to his employees, he was not!

So in summary; Mike is an awful person who has not learned anything from the awful things he did. I will not be purchasing The Cage because, combined with this and his absolute refusal to take any kind of critique or see any differing interpretation of his franchise, I have no reason to think my problems with the franchise will ever be addressed or fixed. I probably will pirate The Cage along with any future Bendy Products [Including the movie] and will do my best to avoid giving it any kind of monetary support. Unless this changes any time soon, I can't see myself making anymore positive Bendy posts soon.

Mike has just managed to make it so hard to speak positively or optimistically of this franchise when he's so willing to broadcast how little he cares about it or its fans. I'm at the point where I refuse to pull any of my punches with my problems with it. What's the point of trying to play nice with my critique when either way the people creating it don't care?

So with this post, I want to invite anyone who feels similarly about the franchise to tell me, make a post or send an ask talking about how all of this makes you feel. It may not change how things are, but genuinely seeing other people share my feelings of anger makes me feel better. It feels nice to see when other people share our same concerns and worries. I'd also love to know if anyone else thinks they'll be avoiding purchasing Bendy products over this.

I'm not forcing anyone to participate in it nor trying to say anyone who doesn't supports mike but genuinely maybe if we can collectively decide to boycott things like the movie, graphic novel and The Cage... It might at least make the bendy devs acknowledge how much they have destroyed their own fandom's faith and trust in them.

The way Mike tweets about his actions like he had no control over why people were mad at him at least proves to me he takes NONE of it back nor regrets it. If you didn't know about his actions and only went off his tweets, you would be led to believe Mike has been needlessly picked apart by fans over things he couldn't control [or in his own words, had his words twisted and taken out of context]. That is not how you speak about your actions if you have actually learned better from them.

anyway, that has been my bendy dev callout post. This is an open invitation to anyone feeling similarly upset about the way the franchise is going to talk about it. It's genuinely nice to see how people feel about this and the more we talk about the more it's likely the bendy devs are forced to address our concerns. I don't think they will but hey, that's why I'm not gonna support them with my money anymore nor am I gonna be nice to them in any content I make critiquing Bendy. I mean I'm also basically making this post just in case anyone asks me Why I feel this way towards to bendy devs/as a way to respond to anyone who thinks I am too harsh in my critique in the future.

As always, it seems the best part of Bendy isn't actually anything about canon but about what the fan's are creating with the ideas Bendy failed to do anything interesting with.

I've seen a lot of analizing outfits and pictures of the actors and trying to figure out if they have hidden meanings for season 3 of Squid Game. And while that's also really interesting I think the best indicator for what might happen and which characters survive the longest in season 3 is who is the most present for promotional stuff. The actors of characters that aren't going to be as important are a lot less likely to appear in interviews, in little promotional videos on the social media accounts and at live events. Now there's obviously always the possibility that an actor just didn't have the time to appear at live events or be a part of a lot of shoots for other promotional stuff but if we ignore that for a second I think it's very likely that three of the most important characters of season 3 (aside from Gi-hun and In-ho obviously) will be Hyun-ju, Geum-ja and Myung-gi. All three of their actors are in a lot of the promotional videos and photoshoots, especially when there are only a few actors that are part of it. Both Park Sung-hoon and Kang Ae-sim were present for the Tudum live events and while Yim Si-wan wasn't there he was the person who got the card with 'two' written on it in the days leading up to the Tudum live show and Myung-gi has also been very present in a lot of the official posters. Often with posters characters of bigger importance will be bigger/more in the front and I don't think they'd put Myung-gi this much in the center if he didn't have a more important role this season. I think Jun-hee might also get pretty far since Jo Yu-ri was also part of that Tudum countdown and that photoshoot of some of the actors with the light shining on them in the shapes. The only other actors of players (once again excluding Gi-hun) in that photoshoot were the actors of Hyun-ju, Geum-ja and Myung-gi. So in conclusion if we look at a lot of promotional content for season 3 that has been put out by Netflix and especially everything that has a limited amount of actors we can see that it's always the same 4 actors of players that are still alive (Myung-gi, Hyun-ju, Geum-ja and Jun-hee) which is why I believe that these four characters are most likely to survive the longest or maybe even make it out alive

nothing gives you insight into what parenting styles produce what types of kids like college essay coaching!! I feel like within 30 min of talking to a kid you can tell exactly what their parents chose to value/center in raising them… and you can also tell whether they’re going to have a rocky or reasonably smooth transition to adulthood as a result. if you were wondering the kids who are happiest and most secure in themselves tend to have parents who:

are warmly interested in their kid’s interests and engaged in their lives but give them LOTS of space/autonomy to explore those interests on their own and are in no hurry to rush in to “fix” things for their kid

communicate respect for their child and trust in their child’s ability to make good decisions and handle their own shit responsibly. it’s kinda wild how much pride kids take in their parents trusting them!! maybe you the parent don’t always get to see that (I assume that even teenagers who have good relationships with their parents are still teenagers lol) but as an outside person working with your kid, it is so so obvious that kids know when their parents trust them and derive a lot of self-esteem from being worthy of that trust. it is also painfully obvious when the parent can’t let go or trust their kid, so the kid internalizes a strong sense of “they expect me to fail/fuck up and they are just waiting for it to happen.”

encourage kids to try lots of different things and to derive fulfillment from the experience of doing things instead of external awards

treat and speak about others with empathy and respect. the kindest kids are the most secure kids and the most secure kids are the kindest. let your kids see you consistently interact lovingly and generously with others!! if they hear you constantly critiquing, tearing down, nitpicking, complaining, etc they seem to internalize an uneasy, insecure sense that this is how others must perceive them and they become soooo much more closed-off, guarded, risk-averse, unsure of themselves, and vulnerable to shaming or being shamed

set high standards for their kids in terms of doing well in school and committing to their activities, but make it very clear that these things are not a “means to an end” (get good grades to get into a good college) but are about learning how to work hard, persevere through difficulties, honor the commitments you’ve made to others, and develop a strong, grounded sense of self-esteem. honestly the kindest thing you can do for your teenager is to make it super clear that it does not matter where they go to college because you are so warmly confident in their ability to thrive wherever they end up

model having warm, loving relationships as an adult with friends and extended family. just in general the happiest kids are the kids who are surrounded by people who love them, listen to them, and are invested in their well-being!! the kids who, when you ask them to tell you about their closest relationships, spontaneously talk about people who aren’t just their immediate family but also their aunts and uncles, grandparents, family friends, beloved teachers or coaches, etc

I don’t get why ppl keep saying bkdk is dead or Horikoshi broke off bkdk. If that were true, this extra would look very different as you pointed out multiple times. The extra was still heavily focused on them and I hate how ppl are letting one no dictate the entire relationship. Izuku asks him to be a special lecturer too. I think the no just needs more clarification but other than that it is mostly fine. If a ship were to be shut down by the creator, it would look very different. Same logic for if a ship were to be canon, it would look different than what we got in the end for izu///ocha. This extra was bad in different ways from ships. It was just a whole lot of nothing that doesn’t meaningfully add anything to the story but I guess we shouldn’t be surprised since it is an extra. It is still an ambiguous ending that can be pretty fixable by one shots by Horikoshi in the future or even better by fanfiction lol. Except for the Toga part. That is just inexcusable

and yeah! like even tho 431 is terrible not only for pairs but also for the whole story, it only confirmed Katsuki feels something really strong for deku and he doesnt notice bc he doesnt consider himself to be that great; they keep talking, and they keep being in each other's lives with no problem -they also imply they will work on communicating their feelings, as the special lecture is about this topic and deku also thinks katsuki doesnt see himself in a high regard. This is actually something that could be used in the future, as their relationship and arc isnt completely finished -in the way that they arent at a point of no miscommunication, no yearning, etc. They still need something to work with in regards to themselves and each other in the process. When it comes to midoriya and uraraka, idk what exactly could develop from what 431 tell us -seems to be mostly about paying attention to the ppl in your life instead of just letting life happen I guess? But idk what conversation or arc they could have together that wasn't resolved already, it was a really weird choice to focus on them as if there needs to be more explored -which is why choosing to not make them talk to each other nor think of the other in these years is potentially interesting, like the only way they could actually need to talk things up or have a separated special moment is if they just stop being friends and want to talk more from now on. Like, if they kept their friendship these years and were part of the other's life, there wouldnt be a moment like this at all.

I think it hurt mostly ochako -and deku if we interpret it as "deku just wants to be teacher, he is super happy about it, and loveeees so much his ex bestie after 8 years of no contact and never thinking about her"-, more than the bkdk relationship.

It would be interesting to see those one shots, if he does them -I know he said he wanted to do more things and little drawings and content for it, but idk if he will do something elaborate or just one page of something silly. I think he still has to opportunity of working with the material and make something at least not this bad -or completely ignore 431 and just continue with their adventures like 430 implies lol If he wants to double down with the "romance" I have no idea how he could do it with what he has tbh, unless he just ignores the plot and their personalities.

i’m still hours away from this part of my replay but i still don’t know if Aeryn should punch the first warden or talk him down. on one hand ‘Lucanis would like me to punch him. so punch him i will.” is highly likely because that’s just. How Aeryn’s Brain Works. on the other hand. i didn’t give him 18 charisma in bg3 for nothin that freak is persuasive and always knows what to say/do to get the Desired outcome. so they’re both equally likely, ironically for the exact same reasoning; fundamentally he is a “person”* who will bend himself backwards into whatever shape is Desired of him.

i guess the question is, what is he prioritising in this moment? the approval of the latest recipient of his (only slightly obsessive) Devotion, or doing what he considers is the right thing (not being brutish/forceful, being a good leader, stroking the first warden’s ego and letting him believe it’s all his idea, etc)

One thing concerning me about Deltarune is that I can’t reasonably get the full experience and completely avoid spoilers. I want all the eggs, and I won’t even know if there is one in every chapter, and assuming there is, I would have to search nearly every loading zone, because there’s not really any way to know for sure which one it is without some MatPat ass theorizing. I want to fight every secret boss, and there’s no guarantee that it’ll be clear who what and where it’ll be, it’s historically been easier than the eggs, but I could still miss an entire boss, important lore, and useful gear if I’m not careful, and don’t even get me started on weird routes dude. I don’t even know how people discovered snowgrave and it’s like the most important thing to happen in chapter 2? Unless everything is incredibly obvious or I search every corner of the game, nearly everyone is gonna have to look it up and replay the chapters, and neither option seems ideal
